The Inn was developed in the 1850s, the home occupied by the Ritter family from New York and completely remodeled and enlarged in 1995. Besides the original dairy farm and apple orchard, the property was also later known as Timberlake Farms, where Cutting Quarter Horses were bred. Stories also link the home to the Underground Railroad.
The Inn was the first structure in the new community of Aberdeen, which is now surrounded by the Course at Aberdeen. It received the Valparaiso Community Improvement Award in 1996 and is depicted in a Mitch Markovitz South Shore Series poster.
