Inspire Me

“Most Favorite Women’s Boutique”
By Rick A. Richards

GRANGER, Ind. – In a retail market flooded with big box department stores, some women find it difficult to come up with unique designs for their wardrobe – unless they happen to be familiar with Inspire Me Women’s Apparel and Gifts.

Jeanne Skelton opened the business 17 years ago and it has become an incredibly popular place for women looking to add something special to their clothing. It has received the South Bend Tribune Readers Choice Award as “Most Favorite Women’s Boutique.”

“What we have is unique,” says Skelton. “You can’t find it anywhere else. I personally choose everything in the store.”

Skelton, who earned a degree in design from Loyola University in Chicago, left for Los Angeles after she graduated from college. But after eight years on the West Coast, she missed her family and returned to the area and opened Inspire Me.

At first her selections were limited, but as word of mouth spread and more designers were requested, Skelton said the business developed a loyal following. In addition to clothing, Skelton says the store carries a complete line of accessories from purses to jewelry.

“We pride ourselves on customer service. We have employees who are honest and know the merchandise. We get to know our customers so we can personalize the service and clothing for them.”

Skelton admits that she loves dresses and that wearing a dress is part of her personal style. Maybe that’s why she sells more dresses than anything else.

“It’s all about fashion,” says Skelton. “I try to provide more classic, current fashion, if that makes sense. People want style and they want something unique.”

Among the clothing lines that are available at Inspire Me are Milly, Free People, Nanette Lepore, Custo Barcelona, Yoana Baraschi, Juicy Couture, True Religion jeans, William Rast jeans and Chan Luu.

“We continually travel to New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles to seek out new designers and trends,” says Skelton.

“What I truly appreciate about the business is the customers and working long-term relationships with them,” says Skelton.

And for those who can’t shop for themselves, Skelton provides a personal shopper. “We will put together several outfits including shoes and jewelry in your size and either ship them out or you can come visit us,” says Skelton.

In addition, Skelton and her staff provide a girls’ night out where an assortment of clothing and accessories are put together and delivered to the site of the party. ?

Inspire Me is located at 312 W. Cleveland Road, Granger.
