Horizon Awning

Horizon Awning

Part of Michigan City for over 30 years . . .

Marsha Markle has two primary goals for her business: Make the outdoors more enjoyable for residential customers, and make the exterior of business buildings look more inviting.

It’s a tall order, but it’s a goal that Horizon Awning in Michigan City has been achieving for more than 30 years.

“I think what has made us successful is that we care about our customers’ long-term satisfaction,” says Markle. “Not only will we sell you a product, but we’ll make sure it fits properly and we will come back and repair it, if that’s what’s needed.”

Horizon Awning supplies small and large awnings (either permanent or retractable) for windows and entryways, canopies, patio covers, and sun porch covers.

Markle says that not only do Horizon’s canvas and fabric awnings and covers provide protection from the elements, but they also add color and a unique design to homes and businesses.

Markle says Horizon works with its customers to make sure there is something that will fit their budget.

“We have different price ranges to fit different budgets,” says Markle, adding that it’s difficult to give a generic price for a project because every job is designed for that particular building or home.

“We have done work in just about every town in the region,” says Markel. “I think we add to the attractiveness of a community by adding to the appearance of a business.

“And we try to educate customers about the fact that awnings are actually energy savers,” says Markle. By keeping direct sunlight out of windows and entryways in the summer, homes and businesses can reduce their air conditioning costs.

Since Horizon Awning opened in 1981, Markle says the business has built a good reputation for service and reliability. Over the years, its work has been endorsed by the Industrial Fabric Association International, Professional Awning Manufacturers Association, Marine Fabricators Association, and Midwest Canvas Products Association.

“I think we have something to offer everyone,” says Markle. “By being a part of these industry groups, it gives us access to the latest technology and methods.”

In addition to awnings, Markle says Horizon also provides commercial windows and doors.

“Service is important to us. We know that when people call, they need something. Our staff has a good attitude, and they respond well to our customers,” says Markle.  ?
