Butler Winery Tasting Room

Butler Winery, established in 1983, is the fourth-oldest winery in Indiana, but their retail shop in Chesterton is a recent addition to Northwest Indiana. The quaint tasting room and shop is located at the corner of Fourth and Broadway in historic downtown Chesterton, just off I-94. The tasting room is within sight of the city park where the Chesterton European Market is held every Saturday, June through October. The tasting room offers the complete selection of the Butler wines including both dry and sweet table wines. Butler Winery produces several unique specialty wines, such as Late Harvest Vignoles, Vidal Ice Wine and Cassis Noir, a fortified wine made from black currants. The shop also features a selection of wine-related items as well as home brewing and wine making supplies.

The shop is run by Joe and Michelle Butler. Joe grew up in the family business in Bloomington, Indiana, where the winery and vineyards are located. The Butlers have been strong advocates for the use of locally-grown grapes for thirty years. Their vineyard is home to chambourcin, chardonel, vignoles, vidal, and cabernet franc grapes that mature under the warmth of the Southern Indiana sun. The unique soils and a distinctive climate offer great potential for creative wine making. Handcrafted, small-batch production ensures that each bottle offers a memorable experience. A visit to Butler Winery in Chesterton should be on your schedule.
